About The Society
Bangor University Archaeology Society was founded in 1999 under the name of Bangor Archaeology Society:
Trowlers and Research Diggers (B.A.S.T.A.R.D). It was created, not just for archaeology students, but for all students, and anybody for that matter,
to become involved in fieldwork and for everyone interested "to see what 'real' Archaeologists do."
We've come a long way in the last decade, and after a couple of bad years where the society nearly went broke and almost became disolved,
we are now back and we're determined to be bigger than ever. The society is no longer just about excavation and fieldwork, though we do
still consider this an integral part of the society. Our aim is "to educate, support and entertain all students wishing to become involved
in Archaeology outside lectures." We currently hold weekly lectures by outside speakers every thursday at Six in G1, Main arts, as well as
organising trips and social events which we think will benefit our members.
Anybody can join as well. You don't have to be an Archaeology student. At £2, our membership fee makes us one of the
cheapest societies to join in the union. To join up, come along to one of our thursday lectures or join us in the Belle Vue,
upper Bangor, (On the corner of college road opposite Options Cafe and the Muse Bookshop!) at around half past seven after the
lectures for a drink and a chat, and the odd bit of fun.
