join us

BEDS meet on Wednesdays at 7pm in JP Hall, when we rehearse and build sets for upcoming performances. After that, we can always be found at the Belle Vue pub in upper Bangor, so come and join us for a drink there!

Set building, as well as costume-making and other technical jobs take place throughout the year, so you’re always welcome to come and lend a hand. Audition period vary, so drop us a line if you’d like to find out when the next ones will be.

who we are

The Bangor English Dramatic Society (BEDS) is at the forefront of the large student acting scene in Bangor. We produce four to five plays each academic year ranging from classic masterpieces such as 'The Importance of Being Earnest', to modern plays such as 'Closer' by Patrick Marber - and we have even ventured into fantasy with 2009's 'Terry Pratchett's Wyrd Sisters'.

This year, we are hoping to take a show to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and to do a play in Welsh, along with many other ventures!

President's greeting

"Hello! Welcome to the website of the Bangor English Drama Society - BEDS. We're passionate about theatre and dedicate ourselves to putting on high-quality plays, many of which have won Student Union awards in previous years. We're a friendly and dedicated group of people, and there's something for everyone to do: whether you want to act, direct, construct scenery, apply makeup or hunt for costumes, you're very welcome to join us! You're always welcome, regardless of previous experience.

Drop by to any of our weekly meetings (Wednesday nights at 7 in JP Hall, College Road), and please feel free to e-mail us at beds@undeb.bangor.ac.uk if you'd like to get more information."
