Our lines are open from 8pm-8am and the calls we receive tend to fall into two broad categories:
Listening calls...
Nightline gives you the time and space to talk through whatever is on your mind. Whether you have something on your mind or just fancy a chat, then nightline is here to listen for as long as you want to talk. We don't have all the answers but we do care about what you're going through. As fellow students, we understand that University is a time of many changes and challenges and being able to talk to someone, especially a fellow student, can and does make a difference. We won't judge and we won't tell you what to do, but no matter what you want to talk about we are always here. Nightline is confidential and completely anonymous, so you don't have to tell us anything you don't want to, and we would never ask you to. There is no problem too big or too small, if it's bothering you then we are here to listen.
Information calls...
Nightline can provide you with factual and impartial information from reliable resources. We don't give advice ourselves but we can give details of relevant professional advice sources to help you with any problem. We can provide information on a wide range of issues from student loans to the nearest sexual health clinic. We have contact details for a range of organisations as varied as gas repairs, smoking quit lines, and Crime Stoppers. We can provide University, local and national information – so whether it's a taxi number to get you home from the Students' Union, exam timetables or checking your exam venue, or the nearest takeaway- Nightlines here to help.
As you can see, you can contact Nightline about anything you wish to talk about, from 8pm-8am every night of term. The number is always with you – on the back of your student card- so feel free to drop us a line anytime.
