Volunteer with us
Volunteer and put something positive back into the student community, meet a wide variety of students, and impress potential employers.
Nightline is run by students for students and therefore could not operate without its committed and enthusiastic volunteers. If you're a good listener and think you could be empathetic and non-judgmental to students calling on a wide range of issues, even if it's at 4.00am, perhaps you should consider volunteering.
Volunteers are required to do a minimum of four duties per semester – but you can choose when, in order to fit this volunteering opportunity around your academic and social commitments. You will be required to attend an intensive training event to develop your skills, as well as some on-going training sessions. A duty is from 8pm to 8am and there will always be others there to support you. Nightline also gives you the opportunity to meet lots of new people through training events, shifts, and social events. By volunteering with Nightline, you can also gain Millennium Volunteering hours and receive certificates for your commitment which look great as part of your CV.
No previous experience is required all we ask is that you are a student here at Bangor. Full training is provided. You can get as involved in Nightline as you like, and you might even decide to get more involved by joining the committee who are annually elected to run nightline. All volunteers are eligible to run for positions on the committee. For more information on this please contact nightline.deputy@undeb.bangor.ac.uk.
However, we do ask that if you are currently going through a difficult time you should think seriously about committing yourself to training and volunteering with Nightline as this can be a very demanding voluntary role.
This year's Introductory Talks will be held on:
October 2010 and February 2011, for the 2010-2011 academic year.
