Herpetology Society

The Herpetology Society is a primarily academic society (Academic Society of the Year 2010) specialising in the study of Reptiles and Amphibians. We regularly have talks by both professionals and hobbyists and actively encourage members to present talks on any research or experiences that they may have had or undertaken. We also have periodical trips to various institutions with a herpetological theme e.g. Chester Zoo, Reaseheath College.

We encourage members to undertake research by providing them with information and resources to volunteer on existing projects or design their own independently. Last year several members achieved grants for their research projects funded by the Royal Geographical Society and the British Herpetological Society.

Talks are held in Brambell A12 from 7:30pm on Mondays. We open doors at 7pm for complimentary refreshments. After talks we go to the Fat Cat Café Bar for drinks and a chat.

Around Easter 2011 we will be hosting the British Herpetological Symposium Bangor 2011, which will be a gathering of herpetological researchers from around the UK presenting their research. The conference will run for one and a half days from the 8th April.
