Postgraduate Students’ Forum

The Postgraduate Students’ Forum is the official representative group for postgraduate students at Bangor University. We voice postgraduate concerns and interests at university task groups, including the Senate Postgraduate Committee – and thus we create a communications bridge between research students and the senior staff.

We also act as a nexus for new and existing postgraduate students, facilitating the creation of academic and social links. We hold meetings throughout the year, and also organise events, including our annual, interdisciplinary conference.

Any postgraduate student can participate in the PGSF, and can stand for election to one of committee positions. Alternatively, you can simply contact us to raise any issue affecting postgraduate students in your department.

The current committee members of the PGSF are as follows:

PGSF Chairman – Nelson Ramos
Nelson is a doctoral student in the School of Social Science. Originally from Portugal, Nelson is writing on the influences of European Union legislation on human trafficking within Portugal and the UK.
PGSF Secretary – Tracy Egbert
Tracy is a doctoral student in the School of English. She currently teaches undergraduate seminars in American Literature, and has a professional background in education.
PGSF Treasurer – Sven Greitschus
Sven is a doctoral student in the School of Modern Langauges. He is co-founder of a discussion group within the College of Arts & Humanities, entitled “Theatre of Thoughts: An Arts and Humanities Reading Group on the Beauty of Critical Theory”.
PGSF IT Secretary – Samuel Rogers
Samuel is a doctoral student in the School of English, where he is writing on identity and landscape in 20th-century British poetry. He is originally from the south-west of England, and has been stuying in Bangor since 2005. He is one of the university's International Ambassadors, and also a postgraduate representative for his School.
PGSF Masters Students’ Liason Officer – Laura McMillan
Laura is a Masters student in the School of English, where she is writing on RS Thomas and Seamus Heaney, with plans to look at changing representations of the human subject in 20th-century British and European literature. Originally from Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Laura studied her undergraduate degree at Sheffield Hallam before moving to Bangor.
PGSF Welsh Students’ Liaison Officer – Shôn Prebble
Shôn is currently doing a PGCE Science course at Bangor, after doing his Biology undergraduate degree here as well. Originally from North Yorkshire, Shôn has lived in North Wales since he was 9 years old, and is a fluent Welsh speaker. He is a Student Trustee at Bangor Students’ Union. His main role in the PGSF is to help represent Welsh speakers and learners, but he is always available for any student to get in touch with!
