BUBB – All the cool kids blow brass!
Bangor University Brass Band is one of the first Brass Bands to be situated in Bangor for a long time. Starting from very little in 2009, the Brass Band has gone from strength to strength, and is continuing to become stronger and more popular! Bangor University Brass Band is becoming a well known name in the Bangor community, and we even won Best New Society 2010!
Every year we put on two concerts, one at Christmas and one at Easter, but we’re always on the lookout to do new things! We do outdoor events, make trips to places outside of Bangor for performances, perform at smaller events such as at the hospital, we go and do brass band contests, and we’re even booked by the Mayor of Bangor to march for Remembrance Sunday, as well as doing what brass band players do best (getting drunk!) – all for fun and to play some damn good brass music!
We accept any student who plays a brass instrument(cornets/trumpets, horns, baritones, euphoniums, trombones, tubas), no matter your skill level, whether you have been doing Brass Bands all your life or your first time. There is no limit to the amount of players we accept. We have students from all different departments in the University, so don’t hesitate to join us!
We have a weekly rehearsal, and sometimes some extra rehearsals if we have an upcoming concert and also a small fee to join (which will go towards new music!).
