HOG Soc is a student-led community garden in the heart of Upper Bangor, next to St James Church on Ffriddoedd Road.
The HOGsoc garden in the heart of Upper Bangor is the student community’s garden, growing organic produce to share amongst our members or using surplus to cater our socials and work parties. Started in 2010 on land provided by the university, the society has transformed this urban area into a wonderful garden. A total of 12 raised beds, a patio, a shed and areas designated to wildlife have been established and we plan to keep this rate of development going.
Outside the garden we organise film nights and educational seminars to share our knowledge of organic gardening, talking on species identification and organic pest control to name a few. Trips to food festivals and environmental centres are organised throughout the year and after each work party we head to the pub to replenish spent energy.
This is your garden, so any ideas on produce, trips and events you have email, post on the facebook page or talk to a committee member and we’ll see what we can do.
So grab your wellies and come try out your green fingers.
