Normal Site is where it’s at… The community feel here on Normal is unique to these halls due to many factors but I think having one of the only JCR’s still running helps a lot.
If you don’t know what a JCR is, don’t worry – neither did we when we moved here! Basically we are a halls committee here for you. We aim to give you the best first year possible, whether that’s through organising social events or being there to sit and have a cup of tea with.
Last year we had more events than ever, with one every two weeks. These ranged from nights out in Bangor to bowling trips in Llandudno. But we’re not just about our events, fun though they are. This year we had over 130 members, and they often come back to Normal Site to say hi. Once a year Normal Siters past and present go out and make our presence known around Bangor. This can help make friends from different courses, years and hometowns.
Check out page 8 of the October 2010 issue of Seren, the students newspaper, to see more about Normal Site.
On Normal Site, we welcome everyone. The committee’s doors are always open if you need a chat. Our welfare officer, Lowri, can help you with a range of issues that might bother you, whether that’s homesickness (most people get it) or nerves about your course. She can give advice or point you in the direction of someone at the Student’s Union or University if needed.
This year we’ve also made a new role on the committee – Sports Officer Rhys. He’s raring to start putting together sports matches against other halls and bringing fitness to our society. This could be good for anyone who, for example, wants to walk up the many beautiful mountains but isn’t serious enough about it to join the Mountain Walking club.

Info: On moving in day we will be there to give you a hand and point you to your rooms. We will also be selling our memberships – £25 for the whole year. Included in this price are beverages for each event and discounts for out of Bangor events such as bowling or Beaumaris castle.
Join our Facebook group to meet people before you go or just to put faces to your commitee, or like our page.
If you have any questions feel free to e-mail us.
Hopefully you can see we have something for everyone. Live on Normal Site, join in the fun and have a great year!
