Club Captain
Hi,
My name is Phil Taylor, I’m a third year sports science ODA student and club Captain for the UMWC. As captain it’s my job to make sure things get done so people can have fun in the mountains and that the rest of the committee are doing their jobs properly.
I enjoy all things outdoors and spend most of my spare time out and about in the mountains. As you would expect I especially enjoy walking and scrambling. If you want to contact me then feel free to give me an email (peua49@bangor.ac.uk) or pop down to our socials at the Tap and Spile.
Hope to see you out in the mountains and have a good year!
Secretary
Hiya, My name's Becca Carey and I'm a second year psyche student. I'm Cornish so I'm pretty used to being outdoors, but usually in the countryside, never mountains! I'd never been mountain walking before I came to Bangor, but I loved it so much and made so many friends on the mountains that I decided to join the committee and help keep the club running. I'll be sending you weekly email updates and running the website (/trying to figure out how the website actually works...) If you have any suggestions or comments about either, just let me know.
You'll probably see me out in the mountains taking lots of photos, and down at the pub for socials (..I'm determined to win the pub quiz at least once before I leave...) Hopefully I'll see you there too!
If you want to contact me my email is psuc24@bangor.ac.uk
Also you can contact all of us on facebook via the club's facebook page :)
Have a great year!
Treasurer
My name is Tom and I’m the treasurer for the UMWC, which basically means I am the most hated person in the club because I’m the one who takes everybody’s bus money on a Saturday morning!! However, I am also a leader and a first aider so you’ll see me out and about in the mountains, knowing that I’m carrying a hefty weight made up of all your pound coins … karma’s a bitch!!
About me … I’m a farmer from Mid Wales and am in my 3rd year of a primary teaching course. I love most sports, and basically anything that can distract me from the hard work I’m meant to be doing for my degree!

Vice Captain & Social Secretary
Hello, My name's Oliver Willis
I'm a 2nd year Product Design student, and Vice Captain of UMWC.
As vice captain I will be organising your away trips, extended day trips and night walks. I'm abit of a car nut and I have occasionally tried drinking but, much like marathon running, this needs alot of practice ;)
As you would expect I'm an outdoors type of person, and spend alot of my spare time on mountains up and down the country, I'm am also a scout leader and am very keen on helping other people enjoy the mountains.
If you have any questions or suggestions about away trips, extended walks and night walks please feel free to contact me at educe1@bangor.ac.uk
And remember
"It's not the mountains we conquer, but ourselves"
Hope you all have a great year!
Safety and Gear Officer
Hello,
My name is Sam Stretch. I'm a second year Geography student, and thoroughly enjoy living in Bangor. I love being out in the mountains, walking, riding and since living in Bangor I’ve developed my taste for climbing. I hope you will all love it here as much as I do, and get out there while it’s on your doorstep!
If you need to borrow any equipment from the club (waterproofs, hats, gloves) let me know, and also please inform us if you have any underlying medical problems which could compromise your safety and the safety of others whilst with the club.
If you need to contact me for anything my e-mail address is tcuc22@bangor.ac.uk
